Just started playing The Sims Medieval

The Sims Medieval uses The Sims 3 game engine, and since I've logged 100+ hours on that, the learning curve is pretty much nill. So far, I like the concept and I'm mostly happy with the execution. I wish that there wasn't so much off-screen action. As my elder daughter says, that's boring. It is typical of the Sims genre, though. I just don't see how it would be a big deal to show the action when the hero goes on a bear hunt, or talks to the Crab Bandit.
